  Extremely disappointed in our visit and felt extremely mislead by the google reviews. Dr. Safran came up as a pediatric ophthalmologist in my search. My son had sudden onset double vision with no apparent cause on Jan 16th. It rocked our world has he was seeing double, was having headaches, pressure in his eyes, and vertigo. He has an emergency MRI and thankfully his neurologist said he was okay on that front. After nine long days of unexplained double vision, my son's PCP recommended seeing a Pediatric Ophthalmologist.
  
  Upon arriving to Dr. Safran's office, the staff seemed friendly. Our nurse was kind and chatted with my son. She didn't ask him many questions about his double vision, but did a simple eye exam and escorted us to another room to meet with the "doctor."
  
  Once Dr. Safran came in, he misgendered my son and continued to call him "she" repeatedly even though his paperwork said "male." He apologized, quickly looked over my son and in less than two minutes he said "well it isn't palsy" and began to wrap up. I asked what could be causing this issue and he continued to explain that "you always see double and maybe his brain is just realizing it. It should go away." I asked about his walking issues, dizziness, etc. His reply!? "Sometimes kids exaggerate."
  
  He then asked my husband what he did for work, when my husband replied "Apple," Safran went on to talk about how he is a "photographer" (NOT A DOCTOR!?) and spent 15 minutes talking about products with my husband instead of helping my baby.
  
  Frustrated and defeated, we called our PCP and asked for a second opinion. Thankfully I was referred to Dr. Leigel at Eye Consultants of Syracuse. The nurse there, Luis, was the FIRST PERSON to ask my son (who is 10 years old) what he is seeing and he believed him. Dr. Leigel then came in and LISTENED to my son. She discovered that he has a convergence insufficiency and with the help of a prism she was able to get him to see one image.
  
  Dr. Safran is unprofessional and should stick to being a photographer for the sake of all of us.
